KONJOLA PATENT MEDICINE GHOST SIGN

1 North Sandusky Street (currently Barley Hopsters, south facing wall)

The ghost sign had been covered by stucco for years. It was uncovered when the building underwent renovation in 2014. Konjola was a tonic, or patent medicine, made in the 1920’s as a remedy for everything from indigestion to rheumatism. It was a vegetable concoction with herbs and a high alcohol content that could be sold without a prescription and was widely used during prohibition.
