RUTHERFORD B. HAYES SCULPTURE

Rutherford B. Hayes was born in Delaware, Ohio, and was the 19th President of the United States. The 700 pound bronze statue was sculpted by Zanesville artist Alan Cottrill and his team and was dedicated in October 2019. Hayes likeness gazes upon the downtown Delaware across the street where his birthplace (now the BP station on East William Street) was razed nearly 100 years ago. From where the Hayes Sculpture stands, if you look north across the William Street, the following ghost signs can be seen.
