THE ARTS CASTLE

190 West Winter Street • artscastle.org

In 1854, The Arts Castle was built as a private residence for George and Elizabeth Campbell. Elizabeth’s father, William Little, a founder, merchant, and prominent citizen of Delaware, gave the couple the land on which the Castle stands as a wedding gift. In 1898, the home was sold to Ohio Wesleyan University. For the next 70 years, it was Lyon Art Hall, OWU’s art department. In 1969, the Castle returned to private ownership. The Castle became the Delaware County Cultural Arts Center fondly known as The Arts Castle in 1986. It typically offers 80 classes and workshops each quarter including painting, drawing, stained glass, jewelry, drama, dance, and yoga as well as exhibitions, performances and special events. The Arts Castle is open Monday – Friday 9am-5pm.
