The Arts Castle
exhibits

In addition to classes and workshops, The Arts Castle annually offers six to eight art exhibitions that are open to the public and free of charge. These include shows associated with our Third and Fifth Grade Projects, reaching students throughout Delaware County, as well as the annual Delaware County High School Art Exhibition and the Delaware Artist Guild Member Exhibit.

These free exhibitions provide the central Ohio community with an opportunity to enjoy original art, while raising public awareness of the value of the arts for people of all ages.

Aug. 29 - Oct. 16
Reception on Aug. 29 at 2:00pm

“Critical Eye” developed out of artists’ need to discuss with likeminded colleagues their artistic goals and philosophies and to compare notes on the technical means of achieving them-- rather than to struggle individually in comparative isolation. Currently, the group consists of 14 artists working in acrylics, oils, watercolor, pastels, mixed media, and fiber arts. The public is invited free of charge to the reception to meet the artists and enjoy refreshments.

Leaving Footprints:
Works of Ohio Plein Air

Nov. 14 - Jan. 13
Opening Reception on Nov. 14 at 2:00pm

Plein Air artists all over the world “take only images… leave only footprints.” Contrary to popular belief, humans can pass through the natural world and leave evidence that is neutral--like footprints--or even positive. Ohio schoolchildren, in studying how people interact with the environment, do tackle serious issues such as pollution, species extinction, and global warming. But it is just as important to show our children and remind ourselves how humanity can be a force for good in the environment. This exhibit shows the positive and neutral (as well as the negative) consequences of human activity on the landscape. The public is invited free of charge to the reception to meet the artists and enjoy refreshments.

This exhibit will also be the focus of the annual Fifth Grade Project (December 6-10), in which fifth grade students from districts throughout Delaware County learn about the exhibit through content-integrated visual and performing arts activities.
