Spring Break Camps are new this year!
Most of the Delaware County schools are out this year for Spring break during the same week. This provides the perfect opportunity, should you be staying in the area, to enroll your children in our week-long camps. These are listed on pages 3 and 4 of our online catalog.

NEW! Start with the Arts Preschool Extension

Exposure to and engagement in the arts during childhood is essential to developing into a well-rounded, well-educated adult.  Deep engagement in both performing and fine arts has been proven to stimulate school readiness.  Beside helping to develop social, emotional, motor, and language skills, the arts nurture a child’s imagination, expression of thought and persistance in completing tasks.  These are skills which play a critical role in the development of a child’s problem-solving ability and attitude towards learning which will have more impact on success in school and life than a high IQ.

Our changing culture and national prioritizing of math and language arts above all other disciplines has limited our children’s opportunities in the arts during the school day.  Given the benefits of a childhood that includes the arts, a critical need exists for additional arts opportunities for our young children outside of traditional preschools.  This is the reasoning for Start with the Arts!, a pilot program offered by The Arts Castle and funded by the Delaware County Foundation.

CLASS EVALUATIONS

If you have a specific class that you would like offered at The Arts Castle, please email our Program Co-Coordinator Karen McCulloch at kmcculloch@artscastle.org. If our facilities can accommodate such a class and we can line up instructors to teach them; we will be happy to explore options. Our staff will answer any questions you might have. Please direct your questions to Karen.

The class evaluation forms are an important tool to gauge the success of our programming. Please let us know how you feel about the classes you or your children take and rate the instructor's performance. If you would like to discuss a class in private, please call.

Feedback is important for our instructors as well. If you liked the class or have suggestions for follow up classes, please inform your instructor. Our instructors present class proposals before each quarter and the programming is developed from those proposals. Student ideas play an important role and will be considered. While it may not be possible to act on every suggestion, we encourage your participation in the planning process.

Programming could be affected by weather.
Class cancellations will be announced on the following TV/radio stations.

Please check our Facebook page for closings due to weather conditions:
www.facebook.com/TheArtsCastle
A message will also be recorded on The Arts Castle's
voicemail at 740/369-2787.
We will do our best to post notice at least an hour
before your class is due to start.
